Happiness means different things to different people. Nevertheless, when we achieve something, which we thought would make us happy, we soon, set our eyes on yet another object to achieve that perfect state of happiness. This cycle goes on throughout our lives. And we always live in a state of yearning for happiness.
Happiness – A State of Mind This means that material things or physical pleasures cannot give us real happiness. A poor man, with no material belongings, can be extremely happy and a king with all worldly pleasures may still be unhappy. Happiness is a state of mind and we choose, whether we want to be happy or unhappy. Happiness is within our reach. It is just that we fail to see it because; we ourselves are not sure, what it is. Be Positive We must learn to see the positive aspect of each situation or happening in our lives. That way, we can stay happy in adverse times also. Just as a coin has two sides, any negative occurrence definitely has some positive implications. This internal contentment, irrespective of the external circumstances, also brings out the strength of our character. Happiness from Within We should understand happiness as an object and not a measure of our achievements. Happiness should not be dependent on certain blissful incidences or occurrences in our life. It should come from within, because of spiritual enlightenment. Our happiness should be responsible for making the surroundings around us vibrate with joy, rather than we depending on our environment to decide whether we should be happy or not. This would be ‘true happiness.’ I am not saying that if you are happy, you will not have to face any adversaries. However, your happiness has the power to make you smile during difficult times. It makes you positive and thus capable to look beyond a situation. It can make you see the shining sun behind a black cloud, which has enveloped the sun for a short while. |
