Are you working too hard? Do you worry too much? Consequently, do you sleep less? Are you wondering why you are putting on weight, which you can’t seem to avoid? If you answered yes to these questions, its time you understood that stress makes you fat.


When there is an imbalance in the stress hormone in your body, it has a dangerous effect and makes you prone to cold, flu, fatigue, infection, and so on. Worse still, it gives you a massive appetite that makes you vulnerable to stress eating, as its job is to make sure your body gets the energy it needs. But unfortunately, it makes you crave for calorie rich carbohydrates and fatty foods. They make you fat.

You Are Important

Develop healthy eating habits. Discipline yourself. It is the only way to stop gaining weight. Think positive. 

Relax by doing deep breathing exercises few times a day. Take up a simple exercise like walking for 15-20 minutes daily. This helps you to control your blood sugar and reduces stress.

Consider snacks as a healthy food option. Plan the next day’s snacks the previous night, so you have them ready when you need them. Some snack ideas are:

-        4-6 whole grain crackers with red pepper strips

-        A cup of light soy milk or skimmed milk with one English muffin. Use a smear of peanut butter or fruit spread

-        Make a peanut butter and jam sandwich on whole wheat bread. Add three graham crackers and an orange

-        One small sugar free yogurt and apple slices

Try not to watch TV in the bedroom.  Have a warm bath before bedtime and go to bed early. Play some soothing music. Sleep well. It reduces stress. This improves your health and your immune system. You will feel good about yourself. And your waistline will directly benefit from it! Finally, don’t give up!
