Affirmations are a powerful tool to program your mind to success. The reason affirmations work so effectively is that your subconscious mind is what really runs your body. If you think about it, your subconscious mind keeps you alive by running all your body organs and everything that you take for granted in terms of bodily functions. Your conscious mind is basically a filter and once passed through the filter to the subconscious it no longer reasons and analyses like the conscious, the subconscious takes it as truth.
If your subconscious takes everything you give it as truth and performs it without further reasoning than it stands to reason that it can be one of the biggest factors to whether you succeed or fail. If you have grown up with people telling you are hopeless at maths, that you are an idiot or just not creative then your subconscious will receive that filtered command and start to give you supporting evidence in your life as to why you are a failure, why your art just isn’t as creative as those who have the gift etc. So if someone can repeat something to you enough times and then you start to believe it and act it out then why not let it be you. This is where the power of affirmations comes into affect. Why not take control of your life and instead of allowing other people to influence what you believe and not believe, have your own affirmations in place to program your own mind about your beliefs. Some of the most powerful affirmations can also be the simplest. A simple exercise that you can do is one a piece of paper sit down and for 10 minutes write down everything that you don’t like or want in your life anymore. Is it the extra 10 pounds that you haven’t been able to shed, maybe its your lack of confidence in social settings. Whatever it might be write it down. Then on another sheet of paper write down everything that you dream to be if you were a perfect you. Once you have both those pieces of paper together you now have the basis of building your own powerful affirmations. For affirmations to work it must be spoken in the present tense as though it were a reality today and it must be in the positive tense. The reason is once you have programmed your affirmation into your subconscious it no longer evaluates whether it makes logical sense or not it takes it as truth. So from your list of things you don’t want rewrite them to what you want instead in the positive. So if it was to lose weight your affirmation could be “I am healthy, fit, trim and at my ideal weight”. Once you have gone down your list and rewritten each one into an affirmation you now need to recite and repeat it daily as often as you can. You might want to stick them up in places that you frequent throughout the day. Maybe stick them on your computer screen, walls or mirrors that you past. Or even keep a copy of them in your wallet. The idea is that in order to reprogram the affirmation in your mind you must repeat it, with conviction and emotion and you have to believe that it is your reality. If you don’t believe what you are saying then how could you possibly expect your subconscious to also believe it. Try it out and see it for yourself. |
