We have all heard the saying “Laughter is the best medicine.” So it is not surprising to some that have long suggested that a key to longevity and a healthy life is to laugh more. We all feel better when we have had a good laugh and humor is a wonderful way to lighten up your life.
It can be surprising that even if you have just had a stressful day that if someone interrupts it with a little humor that your stress seems to temporarily just go away. It’s amazing to note that a child can laugh as much as 400% more daily than an adult. As we mature we seem to get a little more serious and don’t find as many things around us amusing. So when was the last time you had a good laugh? How often do you laugh each day? Did you know the average person laughs 17 times a day? If you just aren’t laughing enough throughout your day then maybe you are just taking your life a little too seriously. A great way to bring some humor into your life is to spend time with family and friends. Share some stories and just enjoy a good laugh together. You could also rent a good comedy and watch it on DVD. Be sure to watch it with friends as you tend to laugh more when others are finding it funny also. The effects of laughter on your health can be well worth the effort to laugh more. Laughter has not only been suggested to reduce stress as has already been alluded to above but it can also help boost your immune system and thereby reduce the incidences of illness. It can reduce your blood pressure and increase oxygenation of your blood. Overall, something as simply as laughing more can do wonders for not only your health but will also create a much more positive outlook on your life. So why not commit time out each day to laugh more and find creative ways to share that with others around you who need a little more laughter in their life. Not only will it be beneficial to you but it will greatly benefit them as well. |
