If you are like me when you watch a master performing their craft you are just in awe of how easy they make it look. Watching the likes of say Tiger Woods, Michael Jordon or Andre Agassi they were at their prime true masters at what they were doing. What we don’t often realize is that while they had a natural gift and talent to which they unlocked to become the best they also chose to follow their passion.
How often do we know that what we are currently doing with our lives just doesn’t feed us mentally or emotionally. That we long for that true destiny where time just flies and your passion is fully tapped into. If you have a passion and are too afraid to pursue it then keep this in mind. The secret to life is to fall 7 times and to get up 8. All great masters will tell you that the path to greatness is fraught with failures and defeats. Michael Jordon is famously quoted as shooting an average of something like 50% of his shots through his career. So if you thought that in order to follow your dream you have to be perfect then think again. Failures and defeats are part of the natural progression to greatness. Without defeats how can you possibly appreciate your success. And if you look back on your life you will realize that your greatest lessons in life is when you made mistakes and learnt from them. The secret to life is discipline. What separates greatness and mediocrity isn’t natural talent or your gifts. The reality is that there are many people who were more gifted then Michael Jordon but didn’t get close to the outstanding career that he managed. Discipline is one of the core pillars that marks all greatness. Without discipline how can you possibly tap into your gifts and talents and let them shine. It is through discipline that you hone your craft and attain true mastery. The secret of life is boldness to lead. The greatest misery in life is to follow a well worn path instead of truly living your life that is destined for you. We are so often caught up in what other people might think of us that we are kept in bondage and never having the courage to step out and follow our dreams. You need to be bold in knowing who you are, what you want and what your dream is. And then having the boldness and courage to be unwavering no matter how many cynics and critics walk in your path. |
